"Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." Rom 3:27-28 |
Excerpt (Hymn) From
Psalm 37
Psalm 37:1. 1-15. First Part.
1 Why should I vex my soul and fret
2 As flowery grass cut down at noon,
3 Then let me make the Lord my trust,
4 I to my God my ways commit,
5 Mine innocence shalt thou display,
6 The meek at last the earth possess,
PAUSE.
7 Rest in the Lord and keep his way,
8 Let sinners join to break your peace,
9 They have drawn out the threatening sword,
10 My God shall break their bows, and burn
Psalm 37:2. 16 21 26-31. Second Part.
1 Why do the wealthy wicked boast,
2 The wicked borrows of his friends,
3 His alms with liberal heart he gives
4 His lips abhor to talk profane,
5 The law and gospel of the Lord
6 When sinners fall, the righteous stand,
Psalm 37:3. 23-27. Third Part.
1 My God, the steps of pious men
2 The Lord delights to see their ways,
3 The heavenly heritage is theirs,
4 Wait on the Lord, ye sons of men,
PAUSE.
5 The haughty sinner have I seen,
6 And lo! he vanish'd from the ground,
7 But mark the man of righteousness,

"Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming." Psa 37:1-13 KJV
